OPTYMA PLUS CONTROLLER – QUICK START PROCEDURE
Factory Default setting
Modification of controller parameters shall be carried out by a trained and competent person.
Optyma™ Plus condensing units are pre-programmed, depending on the model of compressor and the type of refrigerant.
You can access the controller by opening the front or side hinged door of the unit & then removing two screws on the cover plate that covers the controller terminals.
To run the unit in an ON / OFF mode, you do not need to change anything on the controller, just turn the unit on.
Before you apply electrical power to the unit please remove the DI1 link on the top right of the controller (terminals 24&25) This will stop the compressor from running.
How to change parameters
To change either of the above parameters you need to follow the following sequence.
Press the upper button for 5 seconds to enter programming mode
Switch the unit off by selecting parameter r12 and press the middle button.
Change the value to 0 (Zero)
Confirm this value by pressing the middle button (The 3 LED’s will flash and the alarm relay will be activated)
Scroll to the parameter to be changed and press the middle button.
Change to the required value
Confirm the value with a short press of the middle button.
Turn the unit back on by selecting parameter ‘r12’ again.
Change value back to 1 (one)
Confirm the value with a short press on the middle button. (the 3 LED’s stop flashing and the condensing unit will be able to run if required once the DI1 link has been reinstated)
After 20 seconds the display returns to the evaporation temperature, the parameters have now been changed along with any safety setting linked to them.
Pump Down Operation
If you plan to run the unit using pump-down, you need to set-up the pump-down pressure.
To do this you will need to change parameter c33 from default factory setting 0.0 which means the function is de-activated and will generate LP alarms.
Parameter c75 (minimum suction pressure) needs to be changed from the factory default setting which is pre-programmed depending on the evaporating range of the condensing unit (medium or low temperature) bar) to be 0.3 bar lower than parameter c33 (pump-down limit)
For example: - For a low temperature system operating on R449a c75 is set to 0.4 bar, therefor c33 should be set 0.3 bar higher at 0.7 bar.
However, the actual settings are site & application dependant - if the evaporating temperature is very low the c33 setting & c75 setting would need to be altered accordingly.
Minimum values based on compressor technology and application (parameter c33)
Piston MBP & LBP
NTZ / other
Minimum 0.1 bar (g)
Scroll
MLZ (MBP) 0.6 bar (g)
LLZ (LBP) 0.1 bar (g)
Refrigerant Options
To change the default refrigerant being used to another option, then you need to change parameter ‘o30’.
The approved refrigerants available are as follows:
Minimum Condensing Pressure
*‘r82’ (min. condensing pressure) adjustable 25-40 deg.C, ‘r82’ default value is 25 deg.C
LPOM Liquid injection models only
For P02 version models (OP-xxxxxxxxxP02E), if using R404A , R448A, R449A. Change setting in parameter r84. From default 125 to 130.
Controller settings check list
r12: 1 (main switch 1 = on) c71: 1 (compressor type = Fixed speed compressor) r82 (min. condensing pressure) 25-30 deg.C o30: 41 (refrigerant: 3=R134a, 17=R507,19=R404A,20=R407C, 21=R407A, 36=R513A, 37=R407F, 40=R448A, 41=R449A, 42=R452A) o61: 55, 56 or 57 (compressor size: 55=VLZ028, 56=VLZ035, 57=VLZ044) c33: (pump down limit, should be min 0.3bar higher than c75 to avoid unwanted alarms)
Once the above steps have been carried out, please reinstate the DI1 link otherwise the compressor will not run.
Normal operation
During normal running the read out will display the suction temperature of the unit. By pressing the lower button, the display will change to show the condensing temperature.
While the unit is running the display can also show the current operating conditions of the unit.
Enter the parameter list by pressing the top button for 5 seconds and then scroll through to the service parameters ‘U**’. Press the middle button to view the desired option.
Alarms
The display can also show any alarm conditions.
In an error situation the LED’s on the front will flash and the alarm relay will be activated. If you push the top button in this situation you can see the alarm report in the display.
There are two kinds of error reports - it can either be an alarm occurring during the daily operation (A), or there may be a defect in the installation (E).
A-alarms will not become visible until the set time delay has expired.
E-alarms, on the other hand, will become visible the moment the error occurs.
(Note: An 'A' alarm will not be visible as long as there is an active 'E' alarm).
